Managed service for ClickHouse® with database x workload colocation for always hot data
Nirvana Labs (Nirvana), a high performance storage cloud, is announcing a strategic partnership between Nirvana and Altinity, the largest independent managed service provider for ClickHouse®. The integration is now generally available as a Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) deployment on Altinity.Cloud.
Altinity now offers Nirvana as a BYOC option on its Altinity.Cloud, a managed service for ClickHouse. Customers hold a Nirvana account instead of a hyperscaler account. Altinity manages everything from the database down to Kubernetes, while Nirvana runs the cloud infrastructure below it, including compute, block storage, and networking. The database is co-located with the customer's workload on the same private network, on infrastructure purpose-built for analytical workloads where the database stays hot for real-time applications.
The BYOC integration: Always hot data BYOC stands for Bring Your Own Cloud. Altinity already offers BYOC on AWS, GCP, Azure, and Hetzner. The Nirvana integration adds a new BYOC option. BYOC on hyperscalers come with limits of general-purpose cloud storage (capped IOPS, capped throughput, cross-VPC egress). Altinity.Cloud BYOC on Nirvana frees users from these hyperscaler constraints.
Always hot data powered by Nirvana's high performance storage
In the BYOC model, Altinity deploys Nirvana Kubernetes Service (NKS) on Nirvana infrastructure, then runs its managed service for ClickHouse on NKS. Customers receive Altinity's operator, monitoring, upgrades, schema migrations, query optimization and on-call support. Underneath, Nirvana Accelerated Block Storage (ABS) provides the block-storage layer, while the database and customer workload can be colocated on Nirvana infrastructure:
- Database + workload colocation. Workload and database on the same Nirvana rack to keep your data hot. Microsecond round trips. $0 internal egress.
- High-performance storage with proven performance. Backed by Nirvana's Accelerated Block Storage (ABS), with 20K baseline IOPS included, no per-IOP surcharges, and ~2 GB/s sustained per-VM sequential throughput. Most hyperscalers, by default, give you 3,000 IOPS. ClickBench Hardware on identical r7a.16xlarge instances with cold reads shows a ~10× median speedup vs. AWS gp3 across the 43-query suite.
- Published ClickBench results: about 77% of queries ran within 1.5× of AWS io2 and about 98% within 2×; the cost comparison uses the report's historical monthly configuration. A separate SSB joint-stack test reported a 34 ms warm run on the most selective query and about 70 million rows per second on full scans.

"Altinity BYOC frees users to optimize ClickHouse performance and cost using innovative infrastructure combinations outside of traditional clouds. Nirvana’s high-throughput storage, fast networking, and workload collocation define a new sweet spot for price/performance of real-time analytics. We’re delighted to make these capabilities available to users." Robert Hodges, CEO, Altinity
"We built Nirvana for the workloads where the storage substrate is the ceiling. Altinity is the team that has been running into that ceiling on their customers' behalf for almost a decade. Putting the two together is the cleanest architectural fit we have seen, and the production-grade benchmarks make the case on their own." Dan Burke, CEO, Nirvana Labs.
Target users are teams building apps whose hot path waits on storage: Web3 indexers, real-time bidders, fintech risk and backtesting, observability platforms, customer-facing SaaS analytics. If the loop between an event landing and a decision going out defines your product, this is built for you.
The integration is generally available today. Customers can provision BYOC on Nirvana through Altinity.Cloud, with the same configuration controls offered for all supported clouds.
POCs in progress
A handful of pilot customers have been running production workloads on the joint stack ahead of GA. Case studies and demos coming in the next few weeks. If you want to be in the next wave of real-time analytics, talk to us.
